CloseTending the family vineyards alongside his grandfather at an early age, planted the seed which led Jean-François to launch his own domaine in 2010. He subsequently acquired a pebbly parcel with deep clay subsoils in Crozes-Hermitage where this earthy, brooding 100% Syrah is grown in accordance with the principles of lutte raisonée. Harvested by hand, de-stemmed and macerated for 16-18 days with daily punchdowns and pumpovers, half of the wine is aged in large, 600ml oak demi-muids and the other half is aged in stainless steel. Structured and dense with aromas of wet earth, black cherry and violet with a touch of gaminess are followed by ripe dark fruit tones, black olives, pronounced minerality and copious, yet round tannins.
