CloseDespite hailing from within the Vinho Verde appellation, this is a traditional white wine, not a Vinho Verde as we understand them. Made from a field blend of Avesso and other indigenous varietals of the Minho region, it’s medium-bodied and crisp with ripe stone fruit flavors that are balanced by herbaceous, green-pepper notes granitic minerality, and a dash of bitter lime zest. Farmed organically with no herbicides or pesticides, the grapes are harvested by hand, de-stemmed, gently pressed and macerated on the skins prior to spontaneous fermentation, 90% in stainless steel and 10% in neutral oak. Aged for an additional 12 months under temperature control with 9 months of fine lees contact and no malo, this is a complex, ageworthy white at an incredible price. Pairs wonderfully with Bacalhau à Minhota - salted cod with potatoes, onions and bell peppers or any salty, semi-hard cheese.
