ClosePlanted at 2900 feet above sea level in the heart of the Zonda Valley, which is warmer and dryer than Mendoza to the south, the vines thrive as the San Juan River supplies abundant snow-melt water to nourish and ripen them. The mountain breezes from the foothills of the eastern Andes combine with a dramatic diurnal temperature swing to create ideal growing conditions. Jelu is a ripe, juicy, succulent blend of 95% Malbec and 5% Tannat, that’s organically and biodynamically farmed, hand harvested, fermented in stainless and aged in 2nd use and older French oak barrels for 9-12 months. It’s medium-to-full-bodied bodied with slightly jammy red and black berries, subtle herbal notes, balanced acidity and an earthy finish with ripe, round tannins. Serve with bbq ribs and Southern cream corn or a Portobello mushroom burger!
