CloseBagatelle, meaning a trifle or trinket, is a pleasing if understated, peasant wine in the best sense of the word. Honest and unpretentious, it’s 100% Cabernet Franc from vineyards that have been certified organic since 1998 and biodynamic since 2010 and vinified traditionally. Harvest is performed manually, the grapes are destemmed, macerated for 3 weeks and fermented naturally in concrete tank where the wine rests for 9 months. The result is a textbook, medium-bodied Cab Franc that’s crisp and firm with fresh red and black berry flavors, hints of white and green pepper, granite minerality and supple tannins. Pairs perfectly with Quiche Lorraine, leek tart or roast chicken.
