CloseFrom long lines of traditional Austrian winemaking families, Anna and Martin Arndorfer founded their own winery in 2009 and embarked on a more progressive, low intervention path. Martha Rouge, named after one of their daughters, is a co-ferment in which whole cluster Rotberger is macerated on Sauvignon Blanc skins in stainless steel tank for two weeks before pressing, native yeast fermentation and aging for 6 months in neutral French oak and stainless steel. Just a touch of SO2 is added at bottling. Aromas of violets, pepper, and plum lead to a palate that’s medium to light-bodied with bright acidity, dry gentle tannins, and wild berries. Takes a chill well and pairs beautifully with grilled cauliflower and spicy tahini or Korean BBQ Galbi.
