Chateau du Petit Thouras is a family run estate nestled amongst the natural limestone caves in the Chinon appellation of the Loire Valley. The property was deeded to the family by Cardinal Richelieu in 1636, and was used for winemaking for some time centuries ago before the vineyards’ revival in 1975. “Les Georges” is produced entirely from the free-run juice of organically grown Cabernet Franc, with classic Chinon characteristics of vibrant fruit blended with earthy minerality due to the limestone. The aromas show red berry, floral, and white peppercorn notes, while the palate is medium in body and acidity with ripe red berries and firm, dry, tannic finish. It is a classic, savory wine that would be perfect alongside a leek and tomato tart or beef stew served over butter noodles.
