CloseLa Cerisaie comes from organically farmed Chenin Blanc vineyards that lie just beyond the ancient walls of the Puy Notre Dame, and have been part of a working farm since 1631. Thibault Masse and Guillaume Poitevin took over the estate in 2018, recignizing the potential for great Chenin in the chalky limestone rich soils of Saumur in the Loire Valley. Harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeast, the wine is then aged on its lees in concrete vats to maintain freshness and preserve purity. Crisp, clean and light-to-medium-bodied, the subtle aromatics of honey and orange blossom lead to a palate of fresh tangerine, cantaloupe, lime and limestone minerality on the finish. Try alongside a trout or veggie terrine, or go way off the beaten path and serve alongside Papas a la Huancaina, a Peruvian dish in which potatoes are covered with a creamy, spicy yellow pepper-based sauce.
