CloseFrom the volcanic Portuguese island of Azores comes this unique white. 90% Arinto, with the remainder comprising a mix of Terrantez do Pico,Verdelho and Boal, the grapes are first foot-trodden to impart a touch of skin contact, followed by a gentle pressing. About 3/4 of the wine is aged sur lies in stainless steel tanks while the remaining 1/4 spends 6 months in used barrels. A complex and layered wine, the nose boasts ripe stone fruit, earl gray tea, baking spice and toasted almonds while the palate carries through the dense fruit backed by striking acidity and a whisper of drying tannins. Pair with Azores Chicharros (whole fried blue horse mackerel or stickleback with garlic sauce) or braised and charred octopus from Evelina.
