CloseRealizing a long-held dream, the Castagne brothers, Romain and Adrien, carved out a 3.5 hectare vineyard on their family’s organic walnut farm that had been passed down for six generations since the 1800’s. Situated way off the beaten path in Southwest France, about an hour north of Cahors, this 100% Pinot Noir is harvested by hand and vinified with very little intervention. Fermented with native yeast and raised in large oak demi-muids, it’s delightfully light and fresh with notes of red cherry, a bit of black pepper, and some earthiness with just a subtle whiff of the nut farm. Balanced acidity and fairly low in tannin, this supple red pairs wonderfully with a whole roast chicken or a fancy cheese platter with the Castagne family’s own, hyper-local, farm fresh, unrefined walnut oil drizzled on the Bleu and Roquefort!
