CloseThe Nestarec family first started growing vines in the village of Velké Bílovice south of Moravia in the 1990s, when the Czech state returned to them a tiny plot previously confiscated by the communists. The family has since acquired 24 hectares and was certified organic in 2022. Entrusted by his father with all the winemaking when he was barely 16 years old, Milan focuses on making low-intervention wine of high quality, consistency, and longevity. Made from a field blend of Roter Traminer and Gewurztraminer, the hand-harvested grapes undergo a 4-day skin maceration and aging on lees in used Austrian Oak barrels, with the cuvée only released after almost 3 years of elevage on its fine lees. Channeling his love for Asian cuisine, this expressive medium-bodied wine displays bouquets of rose, starfruit, guava and jasmine tea, while the palate delivers more exotic fruit and spice notes with bright acidity, salinity and limestone minerality. Perfect with bold, flavorful dishes like Curry Laksa or Dan Dan Noodles with spicy CHinese Eggplant - hold the pork for the vegan version!
