CloseOrto Vins is the project of winemaker Joan Asens, an influential authority on biodynamic winemaking in Catalonia. He is a professor of lunar cycles at the local winemaking university in Falset, and previously worked with several acclaimed winemakers in Priorat before returning home to Montsant to tend to his family’s old vines. Les Argiles is a mix of 90% Grenache and 10% Carignan, which ferment together in stainless steel with native yeast for 28 days before aging in neutral oak for three months. The resulting wine is medium-bodied with slightly-tart red fruit on the palate, grounded with earthy spice and polished, youthful tannins. Pair with grilled rosemary-garlic lamb chops or steamed mushroom & chive dumplings.
