ClosePoldrado is a great value, unique Portuguese wine made from 25% Bastardo (aka Trousseau), 25% Syrah and the remaining 50% is a field blend of obscure indigenous varietals including Tinta Carvalha, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Gorda and Mourisco. Most of the vines are 30+ years old with some as old as 70. Farmed biodynamically, harvested by hand and stomped by foot, it’s vinified in granite tanks and aged in stainless for 9 months. Light to medium bodied, it exhibits ripe, wild black cherry and blackberry flavors with a woodsy undertone. Crisp and clean with a nice dry finish, this pairs perfectly with Portuguese sausages like Salpicão and Linguiça or a juicy cheddar cheeseburger.
