CloseCastellare di Castellina, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, covers a total of 80 hectares - including 20 occupied by olive groves. and 33 hectares of vines on the hillsides of a natural south-east facing amphitheatre. Out of respect for nature and to ensure the highest quality wines, no synthetic chemicals are used in the Castellare vineyards. This philosophy is reflected by the labels, which every year feature an ornithologically accurate drawing of a different bird found to be increasingly rare in the wild. Using their preferred clone of Sangiovese, called Sangioveto, this classic wine straddles traditional and modern winemaking. Medium-bodied with ripe red and black cherry flavors, baking spice aromas and round tannins, this harmonious wine pairs perfectly with thin crust brick oven pizza or spaghetti Bolognese.
