A joyful and lively 100% Vermentino (aka Rolle in Corsica and the South of France) from vineyards situated within Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Simian offers us a true rag-to-riches story. The vineyard was first planted in 1880 by Sophie Simian who, when she died in 1920 and with no living successors, passed the land onto a trusty farmer Marcelle Laudret. Descendants of Laudret have been making wine on the Domain ever since. Now onto the 4th generation, they have been practicing organic and biodynamic since 1994, receiving certification in 2008. A fragrant nose of white flowers is followed by notes of stone fruit and lemon zest on the palate, with a hint of green almond on the finish. This light, fresh wine pairs perfectly with fish tacos with cilantro and a spritz of lime.
