Weston Hoard named his line of liter wines after his late trusty British Labrador and sidekick, Ercole (Hercules in english), who spent years working alongside him in the vineyards and cellar. Their Barbera del Monferrato is a classic example of this popular Piedmontese varietal, from a cooperative of sustainably-farmed, 30-50 year old vines, and fermented in concrete tank. It’s light to medium-bodied, with fresh, bright red berries and crisp acidity. This crowd-pleasing big boy pairs perfectly with plain or pepperoni pizza or a zesty bolognese.
