CloseGut Oggau Atanasius is a biodynamic blend of Zweigelt and Blaufrankish from Burgenland. By focusing on treating the grapes as gently as possible, winemakers Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe feel that they are moving towards their ultimate goal of perfectly balanced natural wines. Each wine is vinified with the grapes coming from a single plot, Ss that all of their wines have a unity of character unique to each micro terroir. This vibrant red has an opaque purple-ruby color, with a nose of red cherry and a hint of gameyness. On the palate it’s light to medium bodied with notes of juicy blackberry, violet, and earth. It has gentle but evident tannins and nice acidity. Pair with lighter meats, fattier fish like Arctic Char, or german sausages like Landsjaeger.
