CloseI Clivi is a family-run winery, founded by Fernando Zanusso and currently run by his son, Mario. Certified organic, this exquisite white is made from 100% Friulano grapes (fka Tocai Friulano) from 70-year-old vines on the San Pietro vineyard, in the Gramogliano Hills of Udine, bordering Slovenia. Harvested by hand, whole cluster fermented, and racked off the gross lees it is then fermented spontaneously in stainless steel where it rests on its fine lees for six months before bottling with minimal SO2. The nose is lively with aromas of lemon zest, slightly underripe pear, and wild herbs. Light-bodied, the palate presents crisp stone fruit and citrus pith with minerality, salinity and a dash of bitter almond on the finish. Pair with pan-fried rainbow trout or fresh gnocchi coupled with spinach and artichoke.
