CloseJuanvi is the artisan winemaking project of Juan Vicente Alcañiz, a native of Rubielos De Mora intent on creating jobs in this sparsely populated region while making high quality mountain wines. This dry, medium-bodied red is made from 70% Garnacha and 30% Tempranillo, grown organically and harvested by hand at high altitude in the Sierra de Gúdar-Javalambre. Whole bunches are fermented spontaneously in stainless steel followed by five months of aging in concrete tanks. The nose is packed with fresh red berries, leading to a clean medium-bodied palate. Ripe blackberry and graphite minerality with smokey and earthy notes precede the dry finish. Pair with Santa Maria Tri-Tip or King Oyster carnitas.
