CloseEvan Lewandowski uses the concept of ‘Ruth’ to express his deep reverence for the cycle of life. Feints is an iconoclastic coferment of Piedmontese varietals, primarily Arneis, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo with lesser amounts of Montepulciano, Vermentino, Trebbiano, and even Grignolino, all farmed organically in the Fox Hill Vineyard. The grapes see 10 days of full carbonic maceration after which they are foot-trodden, macerate for another two days, then bladder pressed. The wine spends 5 months on its lees and is racked once before bottling without fining, filtration, or the addition of sulfur. Light-bodied, crisp and energetic, Feints teems with bright cranberry and kiwi, fresh earthy, nutty spices, and wild herbs. Serve chilled with ‘breakfast for dinner’: imagine soft scrambled egg on toasted brioche with caramelized onions or eggplant shakshuka.
