The Scala estate has been passed down the generations for the past 200 years, with Luigi Scala currently at the helm. Previously home to olive trees and citrus groves, the rolling hills are now full of native Italian varietals, such as this 100% Gaglioppo. Organically farmed, the grapes are gently pressed into concrete tank where they rest for roughly one year. Medium bodied with bright acidity, this rustic red offers ripe red berry aromas complemented by savory black olive notes. With fairly firm tannins, it's best to let this bottle breath for a few minutes before enjoying– decanting is even better. Enjoy alongside eggplant parmesan or with 'Nduja (Calabrian spicy sausage spread) over freshly baked bread!
