CloseThis wine comes from Lanzarote, the easternmost of the Canary Islands, notable as a wine region for the island emerged a mere 11 million years ago as a result of a volcanic eruption. This means the growers must dig a layer beneath volcanic ash and lava to plant in the topsoil, bestowing upon each plant a rare and special significance, and upon the wines, notes of smoke and savory herbs. This rose is 100% Listan Negro, indigenous to the island and known throughout the Americas by a variety of names, after being brought by Spanish missionaries. This is a lovely wine, light-to-medium-bodied, pale, with nervy acidity, and notes of bright citrus and strawberry. If you want to pair like a Canarian, we’d suggest a Chicken Salmorejo, braised with garlic and thyme, or Papas Arrugadas, salty, wrinkled potatoes with green and red pepper sauces.
