CloseAfter a two-decade long career as a geophysicist, Emmanuel Haget began growing wine as a way to live a slower, more deliberate life in touch with the land. He had the good fortune of meeting the retiring Biodynamic vigneron Philippe Gourdon, who sold his ten acres of Chenin Blanc, Pineau d’Aunis, and Cabernet Franc in the middle Loire Valley to Haget in 2016. Haget continues to practice Biodynamics, and makes thoughtful, detail oriented decisions both in the vineyard in the cellar that lead to bright, joyful wines. This Blend of Pineau D’Aunis and Cab Franc is vinified with ambient yeast and is light in body, a touch sour with dark cherry and blackberry flavors, and balanced acid. Loustic (or Joker, in English) is best shared over playful, joking conversation with light fare like Thai style seared beef with basil and chillies.
