CloseLa Boutanche, which loosely translates to ‘easy drinking and a good buzz’, is a series of collaborations between Selection Massale, a wine importer and various winemakers that are always bottled in liters. Their Gamay, with a splash of Grenache and Marselan, is made by Oliver Minot in southern Beaujolais and includes some 90+ year old vines which produce intensely flavored berries. The wine is fermented spontaneously without any added sulfur and aged in concrete tank to preserve freshness and vibrancy. A juicy, fruity nose of fresh cherry and wild raspberry combines with a supple, yet earthy palate balancing flavors of red plum, black pepper and wet stone minerality. Perfect with a ham and gruyere sandwich on baguette or try alongside a Moroccan beet salad with feta, endive and orange zest dressing.
