2022 Casale del Giglio Bellone Lazio IGT - Lazio, Italy (750ml)

About 50 km south of Rome lies Le Ferriere, a rare Italian commune with little to no winemaking tradition, until Dino Santarelli founded Casale del Giglio in 1967. With free rein to try whatever he wanted, he rounded up some respected ampelographers and university researchers who planted close to 60 different experimental vines to see which would prosper. Among these, they revived an ancient but mostly forgotten varietal called Bellone, that was praised by none other than Pliny the Elder. After a short maceration, the bunches are gently pressed and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeast. Straw colored with golden inflections, this medium bodied beauty offers notes of honeysuckle, followed by a palate of ripe tropical fruit and a hint of orange spice. Pairs well with Saltimbocca (marinated veal wrapped with prosciutto and sage) or Vignarola (Lazian fava bean, artichoke, tender lettuce and spring onion warm salad)

2020 Carl Ehrhard 'Frau Ehrhard Natürlich' Skin Contact Riesling - Rheingau, Germany (750ml)

The Carl Ehrhard vineyard is a historic family vineyard originally founded in 1815. This Riesling comes from grapes grown on the northern slope of the Rhone in a south facing plot lending to intensely flavored fruit. Once picked the grapes undergo a skin maceration for ten weeks. The wine is aged on lees for 18 weeks in neutral oak, during this time the wine has micro-exposures to oxygen which stabilizes the wine without sulfites.White floral and green herbaceous notes pair with a zesty acidity, tropical fruit and uplifting hints kombucha on the palate. Drink with Larb or a green papaya salad.

2022 Domaine du Possible Le Fruit Du Hasard - Languedoc-Roussillon, France (750ml)

Winemaker Loïc Roure started working in wine with the intention of opening a wine bar. By 2003 the wine bar plans were scrapped and he bought his first parcel to start his own estate. He now owns 10 hectares throughout the Cotes de Roussillon. A blend of Caringnon and Syrah, the wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation and then ages in cement vats for 7 months in order to maintain crispness. The scent of wet earth wafts from the glass while the bright palette plays with cassis, raspberries, strawberries and a hint of balsamic. A fun pairing with Clapassade or Aligot.

2020 Cortes de Cima Chaminé Tinto - Alentejo, Portugal (750ml)

In 1998, Carrie and Hans Jorgensen, a Danish American couple started planting Syrah on their farm in Alentejo, a region known for its white wine. Almost 30 years later, cultivation and winemaking has been taken over by their daughter, Anne Jorgensen who has been updating production with regenerative farming practices and minimal cellar intervention. The 2020 vintage Chamine Tinto is the second generation of these updates. A blend of Syrah, Touriga Franca, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet, undergoes spontaneous fermentation before aging separately in french oak barrels. After 12 months in barrels, the wine is blended then ages another 12 months before botting. Welcoming aromas of oak and red berries precede a rustic balanced palate of leather, cocoa and spices. A versatile wine, can be paired with grilled seafood and pizza.
