CloseThis Vermouth Amaro starts with the Moscato-based Cocchi Storico Vermouth di Torino, then adds some robust Nebbiolo, local gentian, rhubarb root, chiretta, a double dose of quinine and of course, wormwood, without which it couldn’t be called a Vermouth. The result is a richer and bolder take on a classic sweet red vermouth and takes its name from the local tradition of drinking it on its own, chilled with a lemon zest, after a night of theater or opera at Teatro Regio Torino. Given it’s intensity, it also mixes perfectly in cocktails with stonger bourbons or ryes, peated Scotch, mezcal, or gin. For the cherry on top, so to speak, serve alongside chili infused dark chocolate.
