CloseIn 1996, at the ripe age of 47, Yves embarked on relatively late-life transition, back to his roots in Saumur, to create Domaine Lambert. Arnaud joined his father in 2005, gradually acquired more land, began the conversion to organic in 2009 and biodynamic in 2018. Mazurique is a pure, high toned expression of Cabernet Franc from 40 year old vines in a single, walled-in ‘Monopole’ on sand and limestone soils. Fermented in 50% concrete tank and 50% old oak, the wine is medium-bodied and supple with fresh red and berry flavors, herbal, peppery and mineral notes and firm, dry tannins with just a whiff of the farm on the finish. This muscular red stands up well to stronger flavors, such as za’atar and sumac spatchcocked chicken or grilled eggplant with tahini.
