CloseFORBIDDEN TAKJU is made with 25% Forbidden Rice, an heirloom varietal of black rice originating from China. The distinctive dark bran gives this Sool a beautiful purple hue as well as notes of raspberry and blackberry. The FORBIDDEN TAKJU is a Sayangju (4 stage brew) made exclusively with organic medium grain white rice, organic sweet white rice, organic forbidden rice, nuruk (traditional Korean wild fermentation starter), and filtered New York water. Dry, light-bodied, with bright acid and crisp notes of berry and almond it pairs well with Blue Cheese & Honey, Jerk Chicken or Chocolate Cherry Lava Cake. Best kept refrigerated or stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Shake gently to incorporate sediment and enjoy cold.
