CloseThis stunningly gorgeous late harvest Szamorodni is made from certified organic shriveled and botrytized Furmint (55%) and Hárslevelű grapes picked in November. Whole clusters are gently pressed, followed by spontaneous fermentation with native yeast in large, 2nd use 260-310L Hungarian oak barrels then aged in the same barrels for 18 months, on the lees without battonage. The high botrytis content makes the Szamorodni rich, ageworthy and ambrosial. Dried apricots, sweet, ripe melon, celery and nutmeg mingle with poached pear, ripe pineapple and Panna Cotta on the palate. Silky and viscous with 98 grams per liter of residual sugar, yet balanced by moderate acidity, this sweet darling pairs perfectly with soft cheese, fig jam and foie gras before a meal or on its own as a delicious, effortless dessert.
