2016 Goldfield Dutton Ranch Chardonnay - Russian River Valley, Sonoma, California
This is a ripe, medium to full-bodied, barrel-fermented Chard with aromas of pear, brioche, roasted chestnuts and a hint of white lily. The mouthfeel is rich and decadent yet retains a core of bright acidity, like a key lime crème brulee. Flavors of mango, apricot, and pineapple are accented by toasted hazelnuts, toffee and vanilla. The interplay of brightness and richness make it an excellent match with a broad range of foods, from butternut squash sage ravioli to veal piccata to sauteed sea scallops!!
