2016 Poggiosecco Chianti - Tuscany, Italy
Made from 90% Sangiovese and 10% Black Malvasia grown on the Tuscan hillsides near Florence, this organic wine is a textbook example of old world, traditional Chianti. It’s naturally fermented with indigenous yeast. The juice is pumped over a few times for added extraction and firmer tannins. After 12 months in cement tanks
it’s bottled without any fining or filtration. Aromas of Ripe cherries and violets are followed by ripe red fruit, oregano and a hint of clove on the palate. The tannins are firm but ripe, balanced by a gentle, persistent acidity. Try this with good old spaghetti and meatballs or Pasta Primavera with a chunky tomato sauce!
