2017 Bura Fresh Plavac Mali - Peljesac Peninsula, Croatia
This fresh and delicious 100% Plavac Mali, a half-sibling of Zinfandel, which translates to ‘small blue’ for is tight clusters of small, bright blue berries, hails from the steep slopes of the picturesque Dalmatian Coast. Niko Bura, a 16th generation winemaker whose family winemaking tradition dates back to 1410, crafts a strictly organic, naturally fermented wine with indigenous yeast and bottled without filtration or added sulfites. Medium-bodied with fresh black currant and cherry flavors, a savory black olive note and subtle sea breeze saltiness, this wine can be enjoyed with a slight chill. Pairs well with mild cheese like Provolone or Mozzarella as well as an array of grilled brochettes - chicken, lamb, seafood or veggie.
