2017 Douloufakis Liatiko Dafnios - Dafnes, Crete, Greece
In 1930, Dimitris Douloufakis became one of the first winemakers in Crete to transform his family’s old, traditional hobby winery into a professional one. It’s currently run by his grandson, Nikolas, with respect for tradition but with more modern equipment and technique. Certified 100% organic, their indigenous Liatiko vines grow on hillside land in Dafnes. The wine is light bodied with fresh, cherry and raspberry flavors, crisp acidity and soft, moderate tannins. It pairs well with lighter greek fare like a Feta, tomato, cucumber salad or a classic lamb gyro with extra tzatziki!
