2017 Guillaume Noire Elements Grolleau - Loire Valley, France
Guillaume Noire and his wife left a successful marketing career in Paris to raise their their daughter in a natural environment. They settled on Anjou where they started making wine with the help of the folks at the legendary Domaine des Sablonettes. This Grolleau comes from 40 year old low yielding vines in the fertile clay, sand and silt soils of the Loire Valley. Grapes are hand harvested and fermented as whole bunches with indigenous for about 5-6 weeks in fiberglass tanks. The bunches are pressed and then mature in the same fiberglass tank for 6 more months before being bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero sulfur added. Light bodied with subtle red berry and heirloom tomato flavors as well as an herbal note, this easy drinking red is light on tannins and big on flavor. Pairs well with pan fried trout, mild cheese and a wide array of heartier salads.
