2018 Chateau de la Roulerie Anjou Blanc ‘Les Grandes Brosses’ - Loire Valley, France
A beautiful, mineral-driven Chenin Blanc from a single plot in Anjou, that’s organically farmed. Harvested by hand over multiple passes to obtain optimal ripeness, the Roulerie is vinified in stainless steel, then aged in large, neutral oak foudres without undergoing malolactic fermentation to maintain Chenin’s natural, racy acidity. Four to six months on the lees adds a bit of body and complexity to the subtle melon and papaya notes. Pairs beautifully with sauteed fresh water fish like perch a la meuniere or a moderately pungent goat cheese!
