2018 La Bastide Blanche Bandol Rose - Provence, France
An austere, contemplative Mourvedre (with supporting roles of Grenache, and Cinsault). On opening, the wine focuses on “garrigue” and herbaceousness. Let it breathe and the effects of the bountiful sun found in the south of France become apparent. Notes of leather, cocoa and dark, dusty fruit and firm tannins just beg for a thick steak, pork chop or… anything with fat, even a soft, stinky camembert!
